2:15-3:20pm: Plenary | Behind Closed Doors: What Managers and Investors Really Think about Investment Opportunities

Planned in partnership with Cambridge Associates

One of the great debates in the field of impact investing right now is centered around deal flow. Investors claim there’s a dearth of good investments, managers throw up their hands, and capital sits on the sidelines. In this spirited discussion, led by Cambridge Associates Chairman Emeritus, Sandra Urie, we will dive into this impasse through a moderated discussion between two institutional investors and two managers. Our goal is to surface varying points of view in an effort to reach a deeper shared understanding about the availability of investment products and the barriers to capital deployment. Join us for what we hope will become a watershed discussion.

Speakers:

  • Sandra Urie, Chairman Emeritus, Cambridge Associates (moderator)
  • Gil Crawford, CEO, MicroVest Capital Management
  • Temple Fennell, Board Member, Keller Family Enterprises
  • Jennifer Pryce, President and CEO, Calvert Impact Capital
  • Shuaib Siddiqui, Director, Impact Investing, Surdna Foundation

Building on the ‘Behind Closed Doors’ session, Geoff Eisenberg and Liz Michaels will lead attendees through small and large group discussions to generate practical and actionable ideas for lowering the barriers to deal flow and accelerating the scale of capital deployment. In this one-hour session audience members are encouraged to share their own points of view and not-so-crazy ideas about what we can do to collectively move the industry forward.
